Diesel Powered Equipment students at TCAT Elizabethton are preparing for SkillsUSA competition this spring with the assistance of employees of Stowers Machinery Corporation in Knoxville. Tim Ward, ASE Certified Technician, is the lead Diesel instructor at TCAT Elizabethton. Lester Julian is a member of the adjunct faculty in the Diesel program.
The average length of the competency-based program is 20 months. Students receive instruction in diagnosing trouble and engine analysis, among other topics. Graduates receive Snap-on NC3 Certification. Currently, the program completion rate is 92 percent and job placement rate is 91 percent.
SkillsUSA state competition will be held April 18-20, 2016 at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
