Who may attend TCAT Elizabethton?

Students must be at least 18 years of age and not attending public school or age 17 with a high school diploma or equivalency. In addition, high school students may attend, subject to space availability, through dual enrollment provided it is approved by their school counselor, the local school administrator and the director of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.

What are admission requirements?

Effective January 4, 2010, students enrolling in full-time training courses at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton for the first time (excluding students enrolling in online courses and those taking Certified Nurse training on campus) must provide proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella and chicken pox.

Is it the same for the Practical Nursing Program?

No. Students must have a high school diploma or equivalency, take and pass the HESI Test, which is an admission test. To begin the process, students must pay the $40 HESI Test fee at the Main Campus in order to schedule the HESI Test. 

When can I take the HESI Test for admission to the Practical Nursing Program?

The test is given at at various times each month.

What does the NC3 Training Center designation mean at TCAT Elizabethton?

TCAT Elizabethton has been designated a National Coalition Certification Center (NC3) Southeastern Regional Training Center, one of four in the United States. The Centers develop, implement and sustain industry-recognized portable certifications built on national skill sets.

TCAT Elizabethton recently announced a certification partnership with several business and industry organization?  Would you tell me more about these programs?

On October 8, 2014, TCAT Elizabethton announced a strategic joint partnership with Snap-on, Trane, and NC3 and currently awards diplomas as a Snap-on and Trane NC3 Certification Training Center.

In August of 2015, TCAT Elizabethton and Fiat/Chrysler announced a Mopar Level 1 Technician certification for graduates of automotive and diesel programs leading to possible employment with area Chrysler dealers and others throughout the U.S.

TCAT Elizabethton is also a NCCER training facility. What does that mean?

As a certified NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) training facility, TCAT Elizabethton offers NCCER curriculum in the construction trades, including electricity-electronics, millwright/industry maintenance and pipefitting and plumbing.

What is the tuition to attend TCAT Elizabethton?

The tuition to attend TCAT Elizabethton is approximately $3,555 for 12 months of training. Financial assistance, up to $7,775 per year, is available from the Tennessee Lottery Wilder-Naifeh Scholarship and Federal Pell Grant to students who qualify. After all financial assistance has applied, students may also attend two years, free of tuition, under the Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect grant programs that began in the fall term of 2015.

Is financial assistance available?

Financial assistance is available to students who qualify. Students who are 18 to 25 years of age must be registered with the Selective Service. To apply, complete the FAFSA application on website www.fafsa.gov. The school code for TCAT Elizabethton is 005281. Registration fees must be paid during registration before a student will be admitted to class.

What is the difference between full-time and part-time training programs?

Classes for full-time programs meet 30 hours per week.  Part-time training programs offered in the evening meet less than 30 hours per week.

When is registration held?

Registration for new students is held in September for the Fall Trimester, in May for the Summer Trimester, and in January for the Spring Trimester.

Where is the TCAT Elizabethton Main Campus located?

It is located at 426 Highway 91 North, across from the Elizabethton Municipal Airport.

What are the driving directions to the TCAT Elizabethton’s Main Campus?

From Johnson City, take West Elk Avenue to Broad Street, U.S. Highway 321, take Highway 91 North. TCAT Elizabethton will be on your right across from the Elizabethton Municipal Airport.

From Bristol, take U.S. 11E South, U.S. 19E South, turn left on State Highway 91 North. TCAT Elizabethton will be on your right across from the Elizabethton Municipal Airport.
