Erica Wright of Washington County, a student in the licensed practical nursing program at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton, is the recipient of a $1,000 academic scholarship from the National Technical Honor Society based in Flat Rock, N.C.
The 2009 graduate of Science Hill High School in Johnson City said she always wanted to be a nurse after losing her mother to cancer when she was 13 years old. She said the nursing program at TCAT Elizabethton has given her the confidence to continue her education to become a registered nurse. She is scheduled to graduate from TCAT Elizabethton in August of 2016. She said the scholarship will help pay for the additional training. She and her husband, Jordan, have a two-year old daughter.
NTHS is reserved for students with a 95 overall grade point average, with no attendance policy violations, and who are nominated by a faculty member. For additional information about the TCAT nursing program, visit www.tcatelizabethton.edu or telephone 423-543-0070.
