Ethan Self of Chuckey, 2018 Student of The Year at TCAT Elizabethton who majored in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology, headlines a group of students now “job ready” for employment as warranted by the college and the Tennessee Board of Regents.
Commencement exercises were held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, in Seeger Chapel on the campus of Milligan College for 307 students in the 2019 graduating class.
There are 291 students who enrolled in full-time training programs that may be completed in four to 20 months. Among them were 133 students who majored in Practical Nursing, 35 in Welding, 22 in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology, 19 in Industrial Electricity, 15 in Administrative Office Technology, 13 each in Millwright Skills and Phlebotomy, 10 each in Machine Tool Technology and HVAC-Refrigeration, nine each in Automotive Technology and Pipefitting, and three in Computer Information Technology.
Among graduates of full-time training programs, 81 were from Carter County, 75 from Washington County, 57 from Sullivan County, 26 from Unicoi County, 12 from Greene County and 11 from Johnson County, 10 from Hawkins County, seven from North Carolina and five from Virginia.
Another 16 students completed the online Dietary Manager Training Program. The program, which may be completed in eight months, prepares students for the national credentialing exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager.
