Amellia McKenzie with Greenlee Textron pictured above was among some 75 Career and Technical Education instructors, representing business, industry and educational facilities throughout the U.S., who went back to school at TCAT Elizabethton April 24-28 to become certified to teach a variety of technical courses at their respective work locations.
This was the third annual NC3 “Train-the-Trainer” event held at TCAT Elizabethton since the college was designated a NC3 Regional Training Center, one of only four in the U.S. The week-long event last year attracted 56 participants and 63 the year before from as far away as Alaska and Nebraska.
TCAT Elizabethton announced a strategic partnership with Greenlee, a Textron Company, to provide an in-depth Electrician and Building Trade Certifications for students in Electricity-Electronics and Computer Information Technology. Greenlee introduced its certification offerings at the recent NC3 Train-the-Trainer event at TCAT Elizabethton.
Initially, Greenlee plans to offer students at TCAT Elizabethton certification in Wire Pathways, Conduit Bending, Voice Data Video and Installation and Repair to TCAT students. Future certifications include Cutting and Termination, Fishing and Pulling, Fiber Optics and VDV Wireless Installation and Optimization, according to Steve Lehr, Greenlee’s vocational business development director.
“Greenlee’s relationship with TCAT Elizabethton will allow students an opportunity to earn valuable, stackable and transferable industry NC3 certifications that are recognized by employers across the U.S.,” said John Lee, NC3 Certified Trainer at TCAT Elizabethton.
Lee said the in-depth and hands-on NC3 training at TCAT Elizabethton will enable instructors to award NC3 certifications to students and employees at their respective work locations.
The latest NC3 training at TCAT Elizabethton included Automotive Scanner Diagnostics, Mechanical and Electronic Torque, Precision Measurement Instruments, Greenlee Certifications, Trane Residential, Advanced Measuring Instruments, Wheel Service, Rotor Matching Master Technician, Advanced Diagnostics, Multimeter, Tools at Height, Heavy Duty Diesel Scanner Diagnostics and Website Development.
In addition to Greenlee, other TCAT Elizabethton training partners are Snap-on, Trane, FCA, Starrett, FAB Lab, Dremel, and IC3 Digital Literacy.
