Amanda Allen of Washington County, 2016 Student of the Year at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton, (photo inset) was the featured speaker at TCAT Elizabethton graduation exercises at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in Seeger Chapel at Milligan College, announced TCAT Elizabethton President Dean Blevins.
A total of 264 students were scheduled to graduate. There are 107 students who majored in Practical Nursing, 34 in Welding, 25 in Administrative Office Technology, 15 in Millwright/Industrial Maintenance, 15 in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology, 12 in Pipefitting and Plumbing, 11 in Automotive Technology, nine in HVAC/Refrigeration, eight in Electricity-Electronics, and five in Computer Information Technology.
Among 241 graduates of full-time training programs that take 12 to 20 months tom complete, 77 are from Carter County, 63 from Washington County, 43 from Sullivan County, 19 from Unicoi County, 15 from Johnson County, two from Hamblen County, five each from Hawkins and Greene Counties, seven each from North Carolina and Virginia.
Another 23 students who live in 17 cities and towns in six states will receive certificates of completion in the online Dietary Manager Training Program. The program, which may be completed in eight months, prepares students for the national credentialing exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager.
