Two staff members at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton were among graduates of the first class of the TNTrained certification program, a joint venture of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the Tennessee Department of Labor and the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Patricia Henderson, Student Services Coordinator from Johnson County, and John Lee, NC3 coordinator and SkillsUSA advisor from Carter County, received their Certificates of Completion on April 9, 2018 in graduation ceremonies held at the TCAT Murfreesboro Smyrna Campus. They are pictured with Dr. Flora Tydings, TBR Chancellor, left, and Dr. Carol Puryear, Vice Chancellor for Economic and Community Development.

The training for workforce development professionals was designed to provide a system-wide State approach for retaining, growing and attracting businesses and development of a playbook, checklist and resources. Sessions included basic and advanced economic development and building the TNTrained team and developing the TNTrained Tool Box. The program concluded with a project that examined a specific case involving real-life economic or workforce issues in each of the nine ECD regions.
